	Features

The Nexus 80-plus series power supplies are guaranteed to provide you with over 80% efficiency. This means the power supply is using the power it is drawing from the wall outlet more efficient and less electricity is wasted. Obviously this is better for the environment and it saves you on your electricity bill! A more efficient power supply also results in a cooler power supply. So less cooling is needed and we are able to make the power supply even quieter. By carefully selecting each and every component we aim at creating the best possible mix of components to make our power supplies as silent as possible. We carefully balance performance and noise level to get the best of both worlds. We are confident that our power supplies are leading the market when it comes to solid performance at the lowest possible noise level. From our noise level tests we know the Nexus NX-8050 produces only 17,4 dB(A)* in idle mode measured in a chamber with 15.5 dB(A) background noise. See graph below. This power supply is equipped with a modular cabling system. This means in this box you will find a number of cables and connectors that you can connect to your power supply if necessary. This prevents cables and connectors to hang around the inside of your PC without being used. This will keep the inside of your PC nice and tidy, plus it interferes as little as possible with the airflow inside the case. Check the illustration elsewhere on this box for the exact cable layout. We want to keep things nice and tidy. Messy cables interfere too much with the airflow inside your PC and….it does not look very nice. So therefore we have sleeved all cables of this power supply with a black mesh. Nice, clean and tidy. Power Factor Correction (PFC) allows the power distribution system to operate at maximum efficiency. This does not so much influence your electricity bill but it will reduce energy consumption at the side of the power provider so it is contributing to using our planets resources better and more careful. Active PFC is technically more complex then passive PFC and better matches the overall high quality standard and reliability of these Nexus power supplies.


80 PLUS CERTIFICATION The Nexus NX-8050 power supply has an efficiency standard of 80% or higher. This efficiency is the world's latest standard in order to save energy consumption and contributing against global warming. A 80Plus efficient power supply uses the electricity drawn from the wall outlet more efficient. What does this mean for you? Noise testing

When we test the noise level of our power supplies we do this in an ISO-certified chamber and according to a prescribed set-up, see illustration below. This set-up is according to reference standard ISO7779 2nd edition 1999.08.01 for Acoustic and ANSI/AMCA210-85. Measurement is done using a Brüel & Kjær microphone. It is important to know that the background noise in such a chamber is a little over 15 dB(A). These are the best possible conditions for these tests and hence you should always be aware when a manufacturer is claiming dB(A) values that are lower then 15 dB(A). Because how where they able to measure this? We provide the real figures, from the actual tests. Can it get any more reliable…? Judge for your self.



	Nexus provides the exact details of our noise level test as we feel dB(A) values are difficult values to compare as there are many ways of testing and calculating. In the market there are a lot of unrealistic dB(A) value-claims which are often calculated by means of extrapolation. This in fact does not give a realist view of the fans noiselevel performance.
